The pale lemon colored 2016 Lions de Suduiraut gives up quite earthy scents of fungi, moss and fallen leaves over a core of peach preserves, dried apricots, poached pears and orange marmalade. The palate is beautifully layered with stone fruit and citrus notions, framed with just enough freshness, finishing long and earthy. (LPB)

A very attractive and supple style that has aromas of brown tea and apricots. Smooth and approachable, sweet feel on the palate. Good depth and balance here. Drink or hold (JS).
Cult Wines International Notes:
The 2016 Lions de Suduiraut is the highly regarded second wine of Château Suduiraut, a Premier Cru Classé estate in the legendary Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux, which specializes in opulent, sweet white wines. This vintage benefits from the exceptional 2016 growing season, characterized by perfect conditions for the development of Botrytis cinerea, or noble rot, which concentrates the grapes’ sugars and flavors.
Crafted primarily from Sémillon with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc, this bottling is designed to be a more accessible and earlier-drinking expression of the Suduiraut terroir compared to the long-aging grand vin. It presents a beautiful golden hue and offers immediate gratification with luscious aromas and flavors of candied orange peel, honey, apricot jam, and tropical fruits like mango, all framed by a vibrant, clean acidity that prevents the wine from becoming cloying. The 2016 Lions de Suduiraut is celebrated for balancing richness with remarkable freshness, making it a delightful partner for desserts, foie gras, or simply enjoying on its own.
