Ratings & Tasting notes:
Vinous Antonio Galloni – 97 pts:
Dana’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard is every bit as beautiful today as it was when I tasted it last from barrel. Soaring and lifted at the outset, but with plenty of depth and supporting tannin, the 2014 is a drop-dead gorgeous beauty. The flavors are bright, focused and intense. The 2014 needs a few years to soften, but it is vivid and remarkably focused, not to mention stunning in its beauty.
Robert Parker – 95+ pts:
The single-vineyards from their 58 acres of vines, includes the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Helms Vineyard, which is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Rutherford. Production is only about 300 cases. It is a slightly more complex wine than the Onda, but not more concentrated, as it has the same opulence and voluptuous texture, an endearing overall personality with abundant juicy blackcurrants and licorice and loamy soil undertones in a full-bodied, silky style. This wine spent 20 months in 90% new French oak prior to being bottled unfiltered.
