Ratings & Tasting Notes:

93 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

The 1994 Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley reveals a provocative nose of tobacco, black cherries, cloves, fruitcake, and spice. Some plum and raspberry fruit also emerges on the palate. This is a hedonistic, sexy, seductive, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with low acidity, and loads of toasty oak. (RP)

Wine Spectator

Combines ripe, rich, complex fruit with a sense of finesse and harmony. The core of anise, currant, sage and cedar unfolds to reveal more depth and complexity. Finishes with a long, satisfying aftertaste. (JL)

Cult Wines International Notes:

***This bottle has been hand-signed by founder and winemaker Justin Meyer.

Silver Oak is one of the most recognizable and highly-regarded wineries in California, famous for its unwavering dedication to producing only two wines: a Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and an Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Founded in 1972 by entrepreneur Raymond Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer, the winery’s philosophy was to produce a single-minded style of wine with a focus on consistency, quality, and age-ability.

What truly sets Silver Oak apart is its unique approach to aging, which has become its signature style. Unlike many wineries that prefer French oak, Silver Oak ages its wine exclusively in American oak barrels. This imparts a distinctive character to the wines, featuring notes of coconut, vanilla, and spice, which complement the rich, dark fruit flavors of the Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery is so committed to this style that they own their own cooperage, The Oak Cooperage, ensuring complete control over the quality of their barrels.

The winery has two state-of-the-art facilities: one in Oakville, Napa Valley, and another in Healdsburg, Alexander Valley. Each winery produces a wine from its respective appellation, allowing for a clear expression of the unique terroir of each region. Silver Oak’s wines are known for being approachable and enjoyable upon release, yet they also have a proven track record of aging gracefully for decades, making them a favorite among collectors and enthusiasts.
