Founded in 1994 by Manfred and Elaine Krankl, Sine Qua Non has ascended to legendary status as one of California’s most idiosyncratic and sought-after “cult” wineries. Operating out of a modest facility in Ventura, the Krankls rejected the traditional Napa model of consistent branding, instead choosing to give every single vintage a unique name, label artwork, and often a distinct blend. Central to their estate program is the Eleven Confessions Vineyard, located in the cool-climate Sta. Rita Hills. This site is the source of their most structured and long-lived wines, characterized by the rocky, siliceous soils that impart a signature mineral tension to the opulent fruit.
