Ratings & Tasting Notes:
96 points James Suckling
This is very refined with ultra-fine tannins that run the length of the wine, with a medium body and impressive length, not lacking anything. Purity and focus. Drinkable now with delight, but will age beautifully.
Cult Wines International Notes:
A “Second Wine” with a Top-Tier Pedigree: Matriarch is often referred to as a “second wine” of Harlan Estate’s Bond Winery. This means that instead of being a single-vineyard bottling like Bond’s other five core wines (Vecina, Pluribus, Melbury, St. Eden, and Quella), Matriarch is a blend. It’s composed of grapes and lots from those five “grand cru” caliber vineyards that didn’t make the cut for the final single-vineyard wines. This rigorous selection process ensures that even the “leftover” components are of exceptional quality, making Matriarch a top-tier wine in its own right.
