Cult Wines International Notes:
Veuve Clicquot Rosé is a highly regarded and consistently popular non-vintage Rosé Champagne from one of the most famous houses in the world. Its creation holds a special place in the brand’s history: Madame Clicquot is credited with creating the very first known blended Rosé Champagne in 1818, adding still red wine to her white wine blend to achieve the desired color and richness.
The modern Veuve Clicquot Rosé is made in the same spirit. It is based on the traditional Yellow Label blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay, but is distinguished by the addition of 12-15% still red wine (Pinot Noir) sourced from some of Champagne’s best crus, providing the color and red fruit character.
Known for its vibrant color and structured palate, the Rosé undergoes extended aging in the cellar, contributing to its complexity. On the nose, it offers rich and expressive aromas of fresh red fruit, including raspberry, wild strawberry, and cherry, often complemented by subtle notes of almond and brioche. The palate is full-bodied and well-balanced, displaying the Clicquot signature of power and finesse, with a refreshing, long-lasting finish. It is often enjoyed as an apéritif but is also structured enough to pair excellently with richer fish, duck, or red fruit desserts.
