Our Provenance Guarantee

Purchase with confidence. All of our wines are selectively sourced and thoroughly inspected for authenticity and signs of poor storage. Accepted bottles are preserved in our climate-controlled cellar until they reach your doorstep. We have no storefront and no walk-in traffic, so nothing is moved or handled between inspection and shipping.

The bottle you see photographed is the bottle you receive (or fundamentally identical when multiple bottles are listed), and our commitment to you is that it arrives as represented. If it doesn’t, we want to hear from you.

Tasting Notes:

100 points — Decanter, April 2024
The aromas are so precise and beautifully compact, giving a refined sense of finesse through savoury incense and dried spearmint intermixed with pure black fruit and graphite. On the palate, medium-bodied and opening to an expansive mouthfeel with perfect concentration and depth, exuding blackcurrant, just-picked blackberry and Bing cherry over a foundation of ironstone minerality. Palate-etching tannins are multi-dimensional. A serious wine with tension, remarkable grip, intensity and a firm spine of zesty acidity brightening the lengthy finish. Perfectly balanced and expressive, “and even a bit savage.”

100 points — Jeb Dunnuck, December 2025
Darker and more powerful than the 2023, offering cassis and blackcurrant intermixed with smoked tobacco, rose petal, liquid violets, crushed stone and a hint of iron. Dunnuck calls it one of the most impressive, profound young wines he has ever tasted, and the most powerful Screaming Eagle he has experienced. Full-bodied and dense, with serious structure, maintaining the rare sense of purity, class and balance that is the hallmark of this estate. Hide bottles for a decade and they will keep for forty to fifty years.

100 points — James Suckling, February 2024
Stunning aromatics of black cherry, blackcurrant, lead pencil, spearmint, Spanish cedar and wild roses. Medium-bodied, starting slowly on the palate and then taking off with muscular tension. Nicely chewy, toned and firm. Goes on for minutes, flexing and showing its propensity for longevity. “Rock on.”

100 points — Vinous (Antonio Galloni), July 2024
One of the most brooding, explosive young wines Galloni has ever tasted at the estate. The natural concentration of this drought vintage comes through loud and clear, with huge, youthful tannins reinforcing the wine’s potent feel. Waves of graphite, leather, liquorice, grilled herbs and lavender saturate the palate, playing off a core of intense dark fruit. He notes he usually has no issue drinking these wines young, but the 2021 really does need time.

98 points — The Wine Independent

Cult Wines International Notes:

Screaming Eagle is the original California cult wine and still the most sought-after. Jean Phillips, a local real estate agent, bought a parcel in Oakville in 1986 and sold the fruit to neighbouring producers before deciding to make wine herself. The first release, roughly two hundred cases of the 1992, was rated 99 points by Robert Parker, and the estate’s reputation was made overnight. Production remains tiny, and nearly all of it goes to a mailing list closed since 2000 with a waiting list thousands of names long. Stanley Kroenke acquired the property in 2006 and owns it today; Nick Gislason, who arrived from UC Davis at twenty-six, has been winemaker for over a decade.
