Ratings & Tasting Notes:
95 points James Suckling
Excellent energy here with pointed tannins, freshness and floral character. Medium-to full-bodied, balanced and back-ended. Vibrant is the word. It shows detail. (5/2021)
This has a steady tug of warm earth throughout, along with tobacco and tar accents, while black currant and fig fruit stay tightly held at the core. Shows nice underlying energy, with rippling acidity working well with the grippy tannins. Just youthfully backward and needs time to settle in fully. Best from 2024 through 2038.
94 points Vinous
The 2018 The Maiden is a gorgeous wine. Rich, ample and generous, the Maiden shows just how compelling the vintage is, even among ‘second wines,’ if that term can even be used at this level. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice and leather fill out the layers effortlessly. It’s a gorgeous Maiden that is already so inviting. (AG) (10/2021)
