Ratings & Tasting notes:

From the winery:
“50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc from our Howell Mountain Vineyard
The David blend from Howell Mountain is distinctly different than the David Rutherford. While we took the same varietal and clonal selections from the Rutherford Estate, when they are grown at the top of Howell Mountain, we produce a wine with significantly more structure. This is truly a mountain wine with its concentration, structure, and complexity. Here we get all the individual expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot, the expression is decidedly different. This eight-barrel blend is a blend of the best new oak from France. Should age well for 15-20 years.”
This family-run winery has worked for over 20 years to acquire some of the best vineyard sites in Napa. With small production counts and a passionate team, they produce luxurious, high-quality wines. Their Cabernet Franc comes from their Rutherford estate, which consists of 12 acres of Bordeaux varietals and Sangiovese. Robert Parker has praised the producer: “Here’s an insider’s tip for visitors to Napa Valley: Don’t dare miss a tasting at Del Dotto’s cellars… Dave Del Dotto (who made a fortune in the infomercial business) has put together an impressive team of winemakers and spent a fortune securing some of the best vineyard sites money can buy. All things considered, his wines, which he calls “silk juice,” are exceptional in quality, along with his charcuterie, which really could be sold for a small fortune, given the amazing quality it exhibits.” (10/2016)
