Purchase with confidence. All of our wines are selectively sourced and thoroughly inspected for authenticity and signs of poor storage. Accepted bottles are preserved in our climate-controlled cellar until they reach your doorstep. We have no storefront and no walk-in traffic, so nothing is moved or handled between inspection and shipping.
The bottle you see photographed is the bottle you receive (or fundamentally identical when multiple bottles are listed), and our commitment to you is that it arrives as represented. If it doesn’t, we want to hear from you.

Glorious purity of fruit, with blackcurrants, blueberries, dark chocolate, fresh herbs and forest floor, and hints of mint. Full-bodied, with seamless tannins and wonderful balance — tight, compacted tannins carrying beautiful fruit and great length, closing on hazelnut and chocolate and going on for minutes. Suckling rates it one of the best Opus bottlings in years and finds it hard not to drink young, while suggesting it would be better from 2018.

Rich, powerful and seductive, blossoming in the glass with superb textural richness and volume. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, cedar, new leather and tobacco meld together as the wine shows off its personality, with fine, silky tannins supporting a huge, creamy finish. Reviewed shortly after bottling and judged superb, with the expectation of a long and broad drinking window of pure pleasure.

A Pauillac-like expression from Napa Valley, with smoky, toasty oak from the outset framing intense flavours of earth, crushed rock and gravelly dried dark berry. The dense core of fruit pushes through a front of rustic graphite and loamy earth, finishing with a long, layered aftertaste. Drink now through 2028.

Opus One was founded in 1979 as a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild — a deliberate marriage of Napa Valley fruit and Bordeaux winemaking, and the first venture of its kind between a California and a First Growth estate. The partnership produced a single wine from the outset, drawing on some of the most storied vineyard land in Oakville, and the winery’s landmark building opened in 1991. More than four decades on, Opus One remains the reference point for the Napa Bordeaux blend and one of the few California labels traded internationally as a blue chip.
2012 followed the cool, small vintages of 2010 and 2011 and was a return to warmth and abundance in Napa — an even, generous growing season that produced ripe, balanced fruit in quantity. The blend here is 79% Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The wine shows glorious purity: blackcurrant, blueberry, violet, dark chocolate, cedar, graphite, smoke, new leather and tobacco over crushed rock and loamy earth, with a cool herbal lift and hints of mint. Full-bodied and richly textured, it carries seamless, silky tannins and a serious structural spine through a long, layered finish. Critics greeted it as one of the strongest Opus releases in years, and it has settled into a broad and generous drinking window.
