Ratings & Tasting Notes:
The Metaphora 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is gorgeous and well rounded with expressive layers of dark red and black fruit, vanilla, roasted coffee beans, tobacco, graphite, and hints of volcanic earthiness. The firm Howell Mountain tannins are softened with superb clone 29 Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from the valley floor, Saint Helena appellation, making this dynamic wine extremely approachable now, but with ample structure to enjoy well into the next decade. (Drink: 2014-2029) – Winery Notes
92 points Wine Enthusiast – Made from Howell Mountain and St. Helena fruit, this wine is rich and savory, with black currants and cassis, a tang of minerality and plenty of rich, toasted oak flavor. The finish is dry, but the tannins are quite
strong. This 100% Cabernet needs serious time in the cellar; hold until 2018, and it could go for another decade. Cellar Selection. —S.H.
