The smoky overtone of this elegant Champagne is richly aromatic, wafting through flavors of toasted brioche, glazed apricot and lemon meringue pie. Fine and creamy, with a well-knit, lightly spiced finish. Drink now through 2026.
93 points James Suckling
A rich and powerful nose with red fruits, biscuity, savory complexity and a spicy, deep and commanding impression. The palate’s rich, toasty and boldly fruited, sweetening up at the finish. A bolder, bigger style here, really full of flavor.
93 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Unfurling in the glass with notes of crisp orchard fruit, white flowers, freshly baked bread, honeycomb and warm biscuits, Perrier-Jouët’s 2012 Brut Belle Epoque is medium to full-bodied, deep and seamless, with a rich, elegantly layered core of fruit, bright acids and an ultra-refined mousse, concluding with a long, precise finish. Fleshy and charming, this numbers among the finest recent renditions of this famous prestige cuvée.
Cult Wines International Notes:
The Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque is the house’s most celebrated prestige cuvée, recognizable worldwide by its signature bottle adorned with the Japanese white anemones designed by Art Nouveau master Émile Gallé in 1902. A true vintage (Millesimé) Champagne, it is only produced in exceptional harvest years and embodies the house’s signature floral, delicate, and elegant style.
Maison Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 in Épernay by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose Adélaïde Jouët. This couple established a house distinguished by its commitment to Chardonnay (a key house signature) and a philosophical alignment with nature and art. Crucially, Perrier-Jouët was a pioneer of the Brut style, notably introducing an extremely dry Champagne (Cuvée K) as early as 1846, long before the style became globally popular, setting the foundation for the region’s dry standard today. The Art Nouveau-inspired Belle Époque bottle, first commissioned in 1902, perfectly captures this legacy of elegance and creative freedom.
