Ratings & Tasting Notes:

93 points Wine & Spirits

Remarkably rich and proudly carrying a serious, Burgundian-style depth, this expression utilizes the house’s signature Yellow Label base boosted by a twelve percent inclusion of still red wine. Its muscular structural frame and vinous complexity deliver broad, spicy lines of wild raspberry and ripe dark berries. This is a highly complete, textured Champagne that “is a serious Champagne with complexity, muscular structure and vinous length of spicy fruit.” Wine & Spirits, December 2019

92 points James Suckling

Very Pinot Noir-forward thanks to an abundance of red berry, nutmeg, and sweet spice aromas, this bottling delivers a bold, expressive flavor profile. It pushes a long way in a serious red-wine direction without ever sacrificing the essential elegance of premium Champagne, relying on a beautiful textural integration to tie everything together. The balance is outstanding, proving that “it’s the delicate touch of the tannins that makes this balancing act work.” James Suckling, November 2021

92 points Decanter

Extremely focused, serious, and showcasing great presence on the palate, the entry opens with a beautifully nuanced, light floral bouquet. Seductive layers of cherry blossom, smoked stone, salted cherries, and lemon curd follow in seamless succession, extending into an incredibly long, persistent finish. It is a striking, beautifully built effort showing a classic blend of “52% Pinot Noir, 18% Pinot Meunier, 30% Chardonnay.” Decanter, June 2020

91 points Wine Spectator

A beautifully harmonious rosé underpinned by a smoky, mineral-driven spine of crushed rocks and wet stones. Bright, crunchy acidity integrates flawlessly with a fine, lacy mousse, providing an impeccable structural frame for expressive notes of ripe white cherries, pink grapefruit zest, and a subtle touch of whole-grain toast. It leaves a highly refreshing impression, finishing with “a fine frame for the flavors of ripe white cherry and pink grapefruit zest.” Alison Napjus, December 2019

Cult Wines International Notes:

Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin stands as one of the most legendary, culturally dominant, and historically revolutionary institutions in the entire history of Champagne, originally established in Reims in 1772. The house’s meteoric rise and global prestige are forever anchored to the genius of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin—the iconic “Grand Dame of Champagne”—who took control of the estate in 1805 at the young age of 27 after being widowed. A fierce pioneer of modern viticulture, Madame Clicquot single-handedly revolutionized the region by inventing the riddling table to clarify sparkling wine in 1816. Just two years later, in 1818, she shattered centuries of winemaking tradition by creating the world’s very first blended Rosé Champagne, entirely rejecting the crude practice of using elderberry colorings in favor of blending her finest still red wines from the famed slopes of Bouzy directly into her classic white assemblages.

The non-vintage Brut Rosé serves as a magnificent, high-fashion tribute to this 200-year-old heritage, capturing an exceptional balance of structured power and juicy, fruit-driven luxury. The intricate multi-vintage blend mirrors the foundational blueprint of the house’s iconic Yellow Label, composed of 50% to 55% Pinot Noir for unmistakable strength, 28% to 33% Chardonnay for elegant focus, and 15% to 20% Pinot Meunier for a fleshy, immediate roundness. To elevate this white base into a multi-dimensional rosé masterwork, the cellar master blends in a crucial 12% addition of top-tier, still red Pinot Noir harvested from the estate’s historic Grand and Premier Cru parcels. Enhanced by a massive 30% to 45% inclusion of mature reserve wines to guarantee absolute stylistic consistency, the liquid undergoes a minimum of three years of careful maturation in their ancient underground chalk crayères. The final pour radiates a luminous coppery-pink hue, unleashing a magnificent bouquet of fresh strawberries, wild raspberries, and toasted brioche that carries into a broad, vinous mouthfeel and a crisp, mineral-veined finish.
