Piper-Heidsieck stands as one of the oldest, most glamorous, and internationally revered grand marque Champagne houses, originally established in Reims in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. Driven by a historic ambition to craft a cuvée “worthy of a queen,” the house famously became a personal favorite of Marie Antoinette, and later cemented its legendary status in Hollywood history as the favorite pour of Marilyn Monroe. The estate is celebrated for its distinctive, flamboyant style which balances high-fashion showmanship with exceptional viticultural precision. As the definitive signature of the house, the “Cuvée Brut” is an emblematic multi-vintage masterclass in blending, orchestrated by highly acclaimed Chief Winemaker Émilien Boutillat to capture a vibrant, harmonious cross-section of the region’s diverse terroirs.
The structural backbone of the Cuvée Brut is proudly driven by Pinot Noir, which comprises a substantial 50% to 55% of the blend to provide clear definition, power, and rich red-fruit depth. This framework is expanded by 30% to 35% Pinot Meunier, which lends a fleshy roundness and primary fruit character, and is elevated by 15% to 20% Chardonnay for crisp, high-toned acidity. Drawing from a massive mosaic of over 100 distinct crus spanning the Champagne region, the base blend is further enriched by a significant 20% to 25% inclusion of hand-selected reserve wines to maintain flawless house consistency year after year. Every bottle undergoes a minimum of 24 months of aging on its lees in the estate’s chalk cellars, followed by at least six months of post-disgorgement resting.
