The Luc Belaire Rare Rosé Fantôme is a contemporary icon of French sparkling wine, distinguished as much by its bold, nightlife-oriented branding as by its traditional Provencal roots. Unlike historic Champagne houses that date back centuries, Luc Belaire was launched in 2011 by Brett Berish of Sovereign Brands, aiming to bridge the gap between artisanal French winemaking and modern luxury culture. The wine is produced at a Maison in the heart of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, a facility that traces its winemaking lineage back to 1898. Managed by fifth and sixth-generation winemakers, the house utilizes the Charmat method—where the second fermentation occurs in large steel tanks—to prioritize a fresh, fruit-forward profile and a soft, approachable effervescence. The “Fantôme” edition specifically pays homage to the energy of the night, featuring a signature luminescent label that glows at the press of a button.
While the wine does not carry a specific vintage date, the growing conditions in Provence are central to its identity. The region’s Mediterranean climate—defined by over 3,000 hours of annual sunshine and the cooling influence of the Mistral winds—provides an ideal environment for the “big three” Rosé grapes: Syrah, Grenache, and Cinsault. These varieties thrive in the sun-drenched, well-drained soils of southeastern France, developing the vibrant red fruit aromatics and deep pigmentation that define the blend. The Syrah provides the wine’s rich color and structure, while the Grenache and Cinsault contribute body and delicate floral notes.
