Cult Wines International Notes:

Domaine Lucien Boillot et Fils is a distinguished Burgundy estate with a rare footprint spanning both the Cote de Beaune and the Cote de Nuits. The winery was established by Lucien Boillot, who relocated from Volnay to Gevrey-Chambertin in the 1950s. Today, the domaine is directed by his son, Pierre Boillot, who took full control after a split of the family holdings. Pierre oversees a collection of exceptionally old vines, some dating back over a century, which were inherited from both his father and his great-grandfather, Henri Boillot. The estate is celebrated for its traditional, low-intervention approach, prioritizing soil health and terroir expression to produce wines of remarkable purity and structural elegance.

The 2021 growing season in Burgundy was defined by its resilience and a return to a more classic, cool-climate style. The year began with a devastating spring frost that significantly reduced yields across the region, followed by a cool and damp summer that required meticulous vineyard management to prevent disease. Despite these challenges, a temperate September allowed the remaining grapes to reach optimal maturity with vibrant acidity and refined tannins. The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin reflects this traditional vintage character, offering a fresh and aromatic profile marked by red fruit precision, earthy nuances, and a mineral-driven finish that distinguishes it from the warmer, more powerful vintages of recent years.
