Domaine Dujac was founded in 1967 by Jacques Seysses in Morey-Saint-Denis, growing from an initial 5 hectares to over 15 today. The domaine is now run by the next generation — sons Jeremy and Alec Seysses alongside Jeremy’s wife Diana — and remains one of Burgundy’s most celebrated producers, known for its distinctive use of whole-cluster fermentation and a meticulous, minimal-intervention approach across its portfolio of Grand and Premier Cru holdings. The Clos Saint-Denis parcel, farmed across two sub-plots in Calouère and Les Chaffots, sits among the most prestigious “Clos” Grand Crus of Morey, sandwiched between Clos de la Roche and Clos de Lambrays, and is prized for producing wines of exceptional finesse, florality, and aging potential.
The 2016 growing season in Burgundy is remembered as one of the most dramatic and traumatic in recent memory. A devastating frost struck on April 27th, behaving more like a winter freeze than a typical spring frost, and it devastated large swaths of the Côte de Nuits and especially the Côte de Beaune. Persistent wet weather afterward brought severe mildew pressure, forcing growers into constant vineyard work simply to bring in a healthy crop. Despite the adversity, Domaine Dujac fared better than many of its neighbors in Morey-Saint-Denis, and the resulting wines have been widely praised for their purity, elegant florality, and sweet, well-balanced character — a triumph snatched from a genuinely difficult vintage.
