Domaine des Comtes Lafon stands among the most revered names in white Burgundy, farming roughly 14 hectares across Meursault, Volnay, Monthélie, and Puligny-Montrachet, entirely under biodynamic cultivation. The domaine has been in the Lafon family since the early 1800s, with Dominique Lafon taking the reins in 1984 and building the estate’s reputation as one of the most meticulous, terroir-focused producers in the region. The domaine’s tiny holding in Le Montrachet places it alongside legendary neighbors like Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Leflaive as one of the handful of producers permitted to bottle wine from this most prestigious of all white wine vineyards.

The 2015 vintage takes on added significance in hindsight: the following year, 2016, brought catastrophic frost damage so severe that Comtes Lafon produced no Montrachet of its own at all, instead pooling its remaining grapes with five other elite domaines — including Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Leflaive — just to produce a single blended cuvée.
