98 points — Burghound (Allen Meadows, January 2018)
As so often in its youth, Meadows finds this the most aromatically broad wine in the range, with a kaleidoscopic nose of Asian spice box, rose petal, lavender, lilac, orange pekoe tea and sandalwood. The powerfully constituted flavours show superb richness with outstanding delineation and intensity, and perhaps more minerality than usual, wrapped in a mildly warm finish that fans out slowly on the palate. He calls the refinement and poise riveting, and — with his customary caution about declaring all-time greats — says the 2015 appears to have the potential to become one.

98 points — Decanter (Charles Curtis MW, March 2025)
Nothing restrained or closed about it, yet with a great deal held in reserve. Lush plum and mulberry fruit with hints of violets, liquorice and spice, and more freshness on the palate than one might expect from 2015, over a very silky texture. Curtis finds the wine still youthful and primary, scarcely evolved, but beginning to show more of its ultimate potential and perhaps arriving at the first plateau of a long life. 16,644 bottles were produced.

Kelley calls it a young classic, soaring from the glass with an exotic and stunningly complex bouquet of dark berries, plums, hoisin, smoked duck, dark chocolate, liquorice and Chinese five spice, with a touch of rose hip on the upper register. The palate is full-bodied, multidimensional and authoritative, with more mid-palate depth than the Richebourg and a more textural, layered attack. The fine-grained but firm tannins are swathed in an ample core of plummy, almost savoury fruit, and the finish is long and scintillating. Cropped at 25 hectolitres per hectare, harvested 7 and 8 September.

Galloni notes he has tasted and drunk the 2015 on multiple occasions and never found it less than profound. Bright and beautifully focused with tremendous purity of fruit, dynamic and compelling. He is clear that it is not ready for anyone who prefers fully mature Burgundy, but finds something thrilling in catching a wine like this in its youth, while it remains so vibrant and fresh.

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti farms its holdings from Vosne-Romanée under long-established biodynamic practice, at yields among the lowest in Burgundy. La Tâche is the larger of the domaine’s two monopoles at just over six hectares. The vineyard in its present form was settled by a 1936 court ruling that folded the neighbouring Les Gaudichots into the La Tâche appellation, giving the domaine sole ownership of the enlarged cru. Where Romanée-Conti is famously reticent in youth, La Tâche is the extrovert of the cellar — darker, more overtly powerful, and for many collectors the more thrilling wine to drink before either reaches full maturity.

2015 was a warm, dry vintage in the Côte de Nuits, producing small berries, deep concentration and unusually ripe tannins, and was ranked almost immediately among the finest years of the modern era. The domaine picked its La Tâche on 7 and 8 September at around 25 hectolitres per hectare, from vines averaging fifty years of age, and 16,644 bottles were produced. The wine carries the broadest aromatic range in the cellar: Asian spice box, rose petal, lavender, lilac and sandalwood over dark berries, plums, hoisin, dark chocolate and liquorice. The palate is powerfully constituted and more mineral than usual, its fine-grained but firm tannins swathed in plummy, savoury fruit. A decade on it has barely evolved, and critics returning to it recently describe a wine only now reaching the first plateau of a very long life.
