A mind-blowing wine. This is super subtle and intense with aromas of peaches, light strawberry and cream. Also shows rose petal and cooked peaches. Medium to full body, with ultra-fine tannins that feel like fine silk. The finish goes on for minutes. It floats across the palate. The winemaker says the closet vintage to this is the 1990, but I think this is better.

This Champagne is beautifully mature, its ripe fruit and soft texture magnified by toast and yeast. Rich and full bodied, its fine acidity keeps it in great condition. With a crisp aftertaste that gives it a delicious lift, it’s ready to drink now. (RV)

This rosé Champagne is rich and vinous, offering smoky minerality up front, expanding to show dried raspberry, mandarin orange zest, brioche and espresso crème flavors that ride the fine, lacy mousse. Spice and mineral details persist on the racy finish. *Collectibles* (AN)
Cult Wines International Notes:
Dom Pérignon, the prestige cuvée of Moët & Chandon, serves as a tribute to the 17th-century Benedictine monk who pioneered the blending and bottling techniques essential to the Champagne method. While the house first released its Rosé with the 1959 vintage, it has remained a symbol of daring winemaking, aiming to capture the “thrill” of Pinot Noir. Under the direction of former Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy, the estate pushed the boundaries of the Rosé by seeking a deeper, more vinous structure that balances the ethereal elegance of Chardonnay with the bold intensity of red wine from Grand Cru sites like Ay and Bouzy. The 2005 vintage is a hallmark of this ambition, representing a year where the house sought to maintain its signature tension despite a particularly concentrated and powerful harvest.
The 2005 growing season was a year of extreme contrasts, beginning with a cold and dry winter followed by a spring that escaped the usual frost threats. The summer months were generally warm but marked by a period of grey, cool weather in August that slowed ripening. However, a providential shift to hot, dry conditions in September allowed the grapes to reach an exceptional state of maturity and health. This late-season surge resulted in a harvest with high sugar levels and deep phenolic complexity, particularly in the Pinot Noir. To preserve the vibrancy of the 2005 Rosé, the winemaking team utilized a precise blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, resulting in a wine that is celebrated for its solar richness, copper-hued brilliance, and a structural persistence that reflects one of the most concentrated vintages of the decade.
