Finely detailed in texture, with an expressive flavor profile of strawberry pâte de fruit, biscotti, ground anise and ginger, matched to vivid acidity and a rich, minerally character. Broad and creamy on the palate, featuring a long, echoing finish. *Collectible* (AN)

What’s more, the price-quality rapport here is excellent by any Champagne standards, and puts that of many a prestige cuvee to shame. Moet’s 2003 Brut Rose Dom Perignon exhibits both richness and robustness reflecting its torrid vintage, yet manages to stint neither on primary juiciness nor transparency to nuance; nor does it come off as at all heavy. Lightly cooked ripe strawberry and fig infused with rose hip, licorice, Ceylon tea, heliotrope and leather inform a delightfully forward nose and lush, effusively fruity palate. A tart and seedy edge to the strawberry serves for invigoration; and lobster shell reduction serves for mouthwatering salinity and somehow downright sweet animal savor. There is a hint of tannin, but it is fine-grained and suggestive of structural support. A long, seductively rich finish manages to harbor not just the immediately aforementioned virtues, but also a sense of transparency to floral and tea-like nuances and to virtually shimmering stoniness. Cult Wines International Notes:
The 2003 Dom Pérignon Rosé Creator Edition by Jeff Koons is a remarkable intersection of historic viticulture and contemporary art, released as part of the Maison’s “Creator Collaboration” series. Dom Pérignon’s legacy, rooted in the 17th-century innovations of the Benedictine monk Pierre Pérignon, is defined by the commitment to only release vintage-only champagnes from exceptional years. For this specific edition, American pop artist Jeff Koons reinterpreted his “Balloon Venus” sculpture—a contemporary nod to the ancient Venus of Willendorf—to create a limited-edition magenta vessel and gift box that mirrors the “voluptuousness” and “fertility” of the wine itself. The collaboration highlights the shared philosophy between the artist and former Chef de Cave Richard Geoffroy: a relentless pursuit of taking innovation to its highest level while respecting the DNA of the heritage.
The 2003 vintage is remembered in Champagne as a year of “superlatives and extremes” that challenged even the most seasoned winemakers. The season began with a severe spring frost in April that decimated nearly three-quarters of the potential Chardonnay crop, followed by a historic and scorching summer heatwave—the hottest in 53 years. These conditions forced the earliest harvest for the house since 1822, beginning in late August. While the harvest was small, the surviving grapes were exceptionally ripe and concentrated, resulting in a Rosé that breaks from traditional delicacy to offer a “Burgundian” weight and richness. On the palate, the 2003 Rosé is intense and structured, featuring a profile of ripe strawberry, fig, and guava, balanced by a surprising mineral salinity and fine-grained tannins that reflect the resilience of the vines in such a torrid season.
