Tasting Notes:

96 points Vinous

A wine of real power and intensity, the 1985 Dom Pérignon Rosé is exceptionally beautiful tonight. The flavors are rich, layered and expansive. Hints of caramel and hazelnut add nuance to a core of expressive red berry fruit, but it is the wine’s textural generosity that is most impressive considering the 1985 is now thirty years old. The 1985 is not an eternal wine, but it has reached a glorious plateau of maturity. Wow! (AG)

96 points John Gilman

The 1985 Dom Perignon Rosé is a brilliant wine that is still a tad on the young side in magnum and will continue to blossom even more fully with a few more years of bottle age. The absolutely scintillating nose soars from the glass in a blaze of cherries, oranges, chalky soil tones, warm biscuits, smoky notes and orange peel. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and dancing, with tremendous mid-palate depth, very good acidity, excellent focus and complexity, refined mousse and stunning length and grip on the utterly urbane finish. A classic vintage for this utterly classic Brut Rosé.
