Accepted bottles are preserved in our climate-controlled cellar until they reach your doorstep. We have no storefront and no walk-in traffic, so nothing is moved or handled between inspection and shipping.

Translucent ruby-purple, with black raspberry, kirsch, orange blossom, candied violets and peppery, garrigue-like notes. Medium to full-bodied and seamless, with polished tannins, a layered, elegant texture and a great finish. The reviewer says it “unquestionably ranks with the top wines in the vintage.”

Chimère is a rare collaboration between Manfred Krankl of Sine Qua Non, the late, legendary consultant Philippe Cambie and the Maurel brothers of Clos Saint-Jean in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Founded in 2010, the project unites the avant-garde artistry of California’s most celebrated cult winemaker with deep-rooted Châteauneuf tradition. Made in tiny quantities and bottled only in magnum, each vintage carries Krankl’s original artwork on the label.
Chimère is built around Mourvèdre from the famed La Crau plateau. 2018 was a challenging year in the southern Rhône, yet Jeb Dunnuck judged this magnum to rank with the very best wines of the vintage, awarding 96 points. It shows black raspberry, kirsch, orange blossom, candied violets and peppery garrigue on a seamless, medium to full-bodied palate with polished tannins and a long, elegant finish. This listing is a single magnum in its original wooden box.
