Noticeable SO2 – decant. A citrus, resin, herb and rose petal nose gives way to seductively textured and admirably concentrated flavors that possess excellent intensity on the racy, long and linear finish. Despite the sulfur, this is nicely elegant and refined.

Sexy aromas of ripe peach, lemon, lime, flowers and smoky oak, along with a light sulfide quality that adds interest. Rich, round and sweet, but with very good underlying minerality giving this a more complex middle palate than the Chenevottes. Finishes with very good breadth and stony lift, mineral-driven but not austere.

Cult Wines International Notes:

Domaine Bruno Colin was established in 2003 following the dissolution of the legendary Domaine Michel Colin-Deléger, an estate that had long been a pillar of viticulture in Chassagne-Montrachet. When Michel retired, his sons, Bruno and Philippe, divided the family’s prestigious vineyard holdings to forge their own paths. Bruno inherited a remarkable collection of premier cru parcels across the Côte de Beaune, allowing him to launch his namesake domaine with an immediate reputation for excellence. His winemaking philosophy emphasizes the distinct personality of each “climat,” utilizing a balanced approach to new oak and extended lees aging to enhance the wine’s natural weight and complexity. The Morgeot parcel, situated in one of the largest and most historic premier crus of Chassagne-Montrachet, is prized for its clay-heavy limestone soils which consistently yield Chardonnays of great power, depth, and structural integrity.

The 2007 growing season in Burgundy was a vintage that rewarded patience and careful selection, ultimately favoring white wines with exceptional aromatic purity and “mineral nerve.” The year began with an unseasonably warm April, leading to an early bud break and a rapid flowering. However, the early momentum was checked by a cool and damp summer, which required diligent vineyard management to prevent disease and ensure steady maturation. A providential shift in the weather occurred in late August, as a “miraculous” north wind cleared the skies and ushered in a period of sunny, dry conditions. This late-season stretch allowed the fruit to achieve perfect ripeness while preserving the high levels of natural acidity that define the 2007 vintage. The resulting Morgeot is celebrated for its tension and crystalline focus, showcasing the classic Chassagne-Montrachet profile with a refined, lean elegance that has allowed it to age beautifully.
