Our Provenance Guarantee
Purchase with confidence. All of our wines are selectively sourced and thoroughly inspected for authenticity and signs of poor storage. Accepted bottles are preserved in our climate-controlled cellar until they reach your doorstep. We have no storefront and no walk-in traffic, so nothing is moved or handled between inspection and shipping.
The bottle you see photographed is the bottle you receive (or fundamentally identical when multiple bottles are listed), and our commitment to you is that it arrives as represented. If it doesn’t, we want to hear from you.
Tasting Notes:
James Suckling
Lavender and sage with berries and dried strawberries, but so perfumed and subtle. Medium- to full-bodied with very fine tannins that are totally integrated with finesse and beauty at the end. Caresses your palate.
Wine Enthusiast
Dynamic and lifted, the Costa Russi’s nose is layered in floral aromas of dried rose, lavender and purple lily that coast over the glass. As the wine develops, notes of strawberry, licorice and forest floor slowly surface. This vintage shines with elegant tannins and lifted acidity that keeps the palate bright with vibrant tart red fruits, savory spice and wild herbs on the elegant finish.
Wine Spectator
Fresh and pure, evoking cherry, raspberry, rose, iron and woodsy aromas and flavors, this is complex and solidly built, with a touch of creaminess to its texture and a superlong, expressive finish. Combines finesse and intensity.
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The Gaja 2020 Barbaresco Costa Russi has a rose and floral note that emerges at first, and it doesn’t have the heavy dark earth or cured leather aromas that we get in the Barbaresco. This wine is focused on fruit tones, bright ones, and those nuances are juicy, generous and long. There’s more youth in this wine, and the tannins are extremely fine and silky.
