Purchase with confidence. All of our wines are selectively sourced and thoroughly inspected for authenticity and signs of poor storage. Accepted bottles are preserved in our climate-controlled cellar until they reach your doorstep. We have no storefront and no walk-in traffic, so nothing is moved or handled between inspection and shipping.
The bottle you see photographed is the bottle you receive (or fundamentally identical when multiple bottles are listed), and our commitment to you is that it arrives as represented. If it doesn’t, we want to hear from you.

“Sine Qua Non” is a Latin phrase that essentially means “without which, not.” In simpler terms, it refers to something that is absolutely essential or indispensable. Often just abbreviated as SQN, they are a highly acclaimed and sought-after California winery known for its limited production and high quality. SQN produces small quantities of exceptional wines, primarily Rhône-style blends.
Each vintage features distinct names, labels, and bottle designs, showcasing the artistic vision of owner Manfred Krankl.
The winery has cultivated a dedicated following, with its wines commanding high prices and being allocated to a select mailing list. SQN primarily works with Rhône grape varieties, such as Syrah, Grenache, Roussanne, and Viognier.
