Ratings & Tasting Notes:

93 points — Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Tasted blind in Beaune: fine minerality and slate notes, a honeyed entry, orange rind and sour lemon, and a chalky finish. The reviewer saw great potential and advised a few more years in the cellar.

92 points — Vinous
Pale, green-tinged yellow, with reticent but pure aromas of lemon peel, mirabelle, orange flower and stone. Supple, lush and pure, with white peach and spice, finishing dry and long with enough acidity to hold its shape.

91 points — Burghound

Cult Wines International Notes:

Domaine Leflaive is the most celebrated white Burgundy estate in Puligny-Montrachet, with family roots in the village dating to 1717. Under Anne-Claude Leflaive, who led the domaine from 1990 until her death in 2015, it became a pioneer of biodynamic farming, and its wines are prized for their purity, tension and longevity. Its holdings include Grand Cru Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet.

Clavoillon is a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru neighboring Les Pucelles, and Domaine Leflaive owns the great majority of it. The 2011 vintage brought a warm spring and an early harvest, yielding fresh, pure and aromatic whites. Bottled in May 2013, this Clavoillon shows lemon peel, mirabelle plum, white peach, orange flower and stony minerality on a supple, lush palate with a long, dry, chalky finish. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate rated it 93 points, and with more than a decade in bottle it is now in its prime drinking window.
