Tasting Notes:

94 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Jadot’s opaque, black-colored Chambertin Clos de Beze reveals super-ripe cherries and prunes intertwined with roasted notes of coffee, herbs and stones. This wine’s immense, full-bodied personality is packed with massive, thick, viscous, highly-extracted and concentrated black fruits. Unapproachable, this behemoth will be at its peak between 2005-2015. This note is the result of tastings I did in Burgundy in Washington, D.C. in April. The wine was tasted from cask, not bottle. Pinot Noir, a fragile varietal, reacts poorly to fining, filtration, and careless bottling techniques, I recommend caution when considering buying a red burgundy based on cask samples. I called it as I tasted it, and hope the bottled wine reflects the quality of the samples I was provided. Overall, 1995 is another in a string of successful vintages for Jadot. If there is one negociant house consumers can feel comfortable buying blindly, vintage to vintage, it is Jadot.

Here’s a harmonious, beautifully integrated Pinot Noir from a solid producer. This red Burgundy displays good color and delivers aromas and flavors of chocolate and black cherry, with a powerful structure and a lengthy finish. (PM)  (11/1997)
