Tasting Notes:

94 points Vinous

Staglin’s 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon might very well turn out to be one of the best wines of the year. Layered and supple, with no hard edges, the 2011 impresses for its silkiness and overall balance. Dark red/blackish fruits, flowers, lavender, tobacco, grilled herbs. and mint meld together beautifully in the glass. The 2011 isn’t a blockbuster, but it is endowed with stunning textural elegance and class. Floral and spiced notes develop in the glass, adding lift and brightness. Production is down sharply in 2011. Staglin bottled 1,500 cases of the Cabernet rather than the more typical 2,300. The 2011 is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. 92 points James Suckling

A slightly lean wine with dark-chocolate and berry character. Medium body with firm tannins and a juicy finish. Classy and delicious. Very solid for the vintage. (5/2014)
