Ratings & Tasting Notes:
96 points Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The 2009 Batard-Montrachet positively explodes from the glass. Round, sweet and expressive, the wine saturates the palate with masses of fruit in a bold, powerful style that is utterly irresistible. The finish is intense and resonant in all directions. Remy notes that the Batard is the only 2009 above 14% in alcohol. Anticipated maturity: 2017+. (AG) (9/2011)
96 points Wine Enthusiast
Mineral, steel and toast set this impressive, well-structured wine on to the road for aging. Behind this initially severe, very young exterior is the richest yellow and white fruit, exuding power, concentration and density. Give it 6-8 years and many more. *Cellar Selection* (RV) (12/2011)
95 points Allen Meadows – Burghound
An expressive and actually quite elegant nose features lemon rind, spiced pear, white peach and plenty of dried floral influences. The supple, round and imposingly scaled big-bodied flavors are impressively concentrated and while quite powerful, they are also quite seductively textured before culminating in an explosive yet impeccably well-balanced finish. As is usually the case, this is a big wine but it retains a certain refinement that, in the same vein as the Bienvenues, is not exactly expected in a bold and exceptionally rich vintage like 2009. Drink: 2019+ (6/2012)
