Like a snapping whip with its brightness and intensity. Lemon and apple-tart aromas and flavors. Medium body. Solid core of fruit and a fantastic finish. Coming along beautifully. Drink now.

Just approaching maturity, this rich wine is sumptuous and complex. It has intense fruitiness, with apple and grapefruit flavors that are followed by a tight texture as well as the first signs of toastiness. It has plenty of life yet. Drink now–2024. *Cellar Selection* (RV)
Cult Wines International Notes:
The Pol Roger Vintage Brut is produced in limited quantities from a blend sourced exclusively from 20 Grand and Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. The 2004 vintage is widely considered a classic, elegant expression of the House style.
Blend: Typically 60% Pinot Noir (for structure and power) and 40% Chardonnay (for elegance and freshness).
Aging: The wine is aged for approximately 8 years on the lees (spent yeast cells) in the House’s deep, cool cellars (33 meters below ground at about 9°C). This extended, cool maturation is a hallmark of Pol Roger, resulting in a very fine mousse (tiny bubbles) and integrated complexity.
Disgorgement: The 2004 vintage was generally disgorged in Summer 2014, with a dosage (sugar added after disgorgement) around 8 g/l.
The 2004 vintage is noted for its beautiful balance between youthful freshness and tertiary complexity, making it an excellent wine to drink now or hold further.
Aromatics: It displays a complex, evolving nose of ripe orchard fruits (apple, pear, white peach), floral notes, toasted brioche, marzipan, and subtle ginger or spice. Some reviewers note minerality and hints of salted caramel.
Palate: The palate is known for its harmony, showing lively acidity and a fine, creamy mousse. Flavors include tangy lemon, black cherry, berry, pastry cream, and honey. It is both rich and lively, maintaining remarkable precision.
Finish: Long, chalk-tinged, and elegant, showcasing the potential for further aging.
