Ratings & Tasting Notes:
Wine Advocate
Ex-cellar bottle tasted blind at the Lynch Bages vertical. This is well defined on the nose, fresh, smoke, blackberry, pain grille, very good lift. Touch of liquorice. The palate is full-bodied, sinewy, firm tannins, black fruits liquorice, a touch of white pepper, very elegant on the mid-palate, powerful at first pour and then ebbs away as if it has suddenly remembered its year of birth. But it has fine tannins and certainly a commendable wine for the vintage. The finish is simple, a little short, but with some attractive tarry notes on the aftertaste. (NM) (3/2010)
Int’l Wine Cellar
Dark ruby-red with garnet at the rim. Cassis, licorice pastille, dried herbs and green bell pepper on the austere nose. Slightly vegetal flavors of underbrush, tobacco and leather indicate modest ripeness. Elegant and classically dry, but lacking generosity and complexity. Finishes firm and a tad dry, with building tannins. Drink up. (1/2012)
