The Chateau Pavie 1985 has a deep, slightly cloudy mahogany hue with tawny rim. The nose is very attractive with lifted ripe, slightly honeyed fruit: mulberry, sloe, kirsch and smoke. The palate is medium-bodied with good fruit concentration that is paradigmatic of the vintage. Well balanced though perhaps rustic and slightly bretty but there is great persistency on the finish. Very fine. (NM) (9/2011)
