Drink like the Champenoise do when you sip this quite mature yet lively and complex brut, which might have just been plucked from an underground cellar. A rather deep color, generous smoke, toasted almond and honey character and a long finish make it memorable.

Earth, mushroom and toffee on the nose. Big, rich and very dry; features the typical, maturing Bollinger flavors of coffee and toffee but lovely ripe acidity gives the wine terrific freshness and superb cut. Full, creamy and complex. A superb R.D. from a great vintage. (ST)
Cult Wines International Notes:
Bollinger R.D. Extra Brut is a prestige cuvée from the esteemed Champagne house Bollinger, renowned for its power, complexity, and extended aging on its lees (disgorged late). The “R.D.” designation stands for “Récemment Dégorgé” (recently disgorged), highlighting that while the wine has undergone significant maturation in the cellars, it’s released relatively soon after disgorgement to showcase a unique freshness alongside its developed character. Typically a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Grand and Premier Cru vineyards, R.D. offers intense aromas of ripe fruit, brioche, and spice, underscored by a vibrant acidity and an exceptionally long, dry finish. It represents a singular expression of Bollinger’s house style, emphasizing both depth and remarkable vivacity.
